It’s a week for Kpop spotlight and today we’re gonna be talking about Dreamcatcher! A girl group known for their unique concept that blends elements of rock and metal with a dark and fantasy image. The group was formed by the company Happy Face Entertainment, now known as Dreamcatcher Company. Dreamcatcher debuted on January 13, 2017 with the members Jiu, Sua, Siyeon, Handong, Yoohyeon, Dami, and Gahyeon.

Dreamcatcher gained attention with their powerful performances, which often incorporates rock-inspired instrumentals and intense choreography. Very committed to the dark concept they have rightfully grown very popular since debut. Some of their most recognizable songs including "Chase Me," "Scream," "You and I," and "BOCA."

The group has developed a devoted international fanbase due to their distinct sound and engaging stage presence. Dreamcatcher is also known for their storytelling through interconnected music videos and the continuation of a storyline in their releases.

But much of their initial draw, while very involved with their concept, also has to do with their changes. In 2014 Happy Face Entertainment debuted a girl group with the name of Minx. In this group were members Jiu, Sua, Siyeon, Yoohyeon, and Dami. A youthful group with a cute concept and beachy songs! With only one single and one mini album, they released “Why Did You Come To My Home?” and “Love Shake”. Disbanding in 2016, they made their re-debut as Dreamcatcher with two new members, Hadong and Gahyeon.

While now, Minx’s music is almost impossible to find, as is earlier Dreamcatcher, we have a few of their newer albums here at Kawaii Gifts! There’s “Summer Holiday” with the title track “BEcause,” an unsettling abandoned amusement park music video with imagery directly inspired from the movie “Us (2019).” Along with their most recent release “Apocalypse: Follow Us” with the title “Vision.” A music video with post-apocalyptic survival elements, and siren-like vocals to enchant the audience. Both with box-like packaging, they store easily and have plenty of inclusions! 

Overall, Dreamcatcher is a phenomenal group of underdogs that were able to make it in the industry with persistence. A bold and unique team with a strong presence in a sea of competition, they’re not one to miss out on!
